Dear Curiosity Journal,
Since the flock has come off of pasture, they haven’t shown much interest in getting out to graze. Until yesterday, they’d been sticking pretty close to their bales and shelter. However, when I saw them wander out to forage, they also saw me walking out to get firewood, and they called to me and jostled at the gate, like they typically do during the grazing season, so I let them out to find what they could on the frozen ground. It was no surprise that they headed for the solstice spiral and evergreen archway, contributing to the event cleanup in their own way. It was good to see them get a little exercise, running and jumping, a contrast to their current routine of chomping at the round bale, reclining, and chewing their cud. I’m starting to notice some subtle changes in the bred ewes, a little baby bump, a slight sway back, a wee bit of a waddle and I get butterflies of expectation for new babies.
