Earth To Table: A Weekend of Growing, Gathering & Connecting

August 15th, 16th & 17th

Regenerative Gardening

In this workshop, we’ll dig deep into why we have integrated no-till gardening into our growing practices;  less weeding, easier planting and harvesting, improved quality and yields, and healthier soil. Farmer Rufus will teach you how to grow more food with less work. He’ll start by laying the groundwork of philosophy and research and then take you through the step-by-step process of setting up your garden and making compost. Whether you are a home gardener or commercial grower, we hope this workshop inspires you to grab your gardening hat and get your hands in the dirt.

Summer Foraging

Are you curious about edible plants growing in the Driftless? Join us for a journey on the land foraging for summer edibles. We’ll share our experience, get familiar with field guides, learn about foraging safety, discuss how to identify some commonly wildcrafted foods, harvest while we hike, and prepare a few recipes featuring the flavors of summer.

Growing Cut Flowers

In this workshop, organic growers, Joy Miller and Rufus Haucke will lead a hands-on learning experience for aspiring flower growers. We will cover annual and perennial production, garden bed preparation, variety selection, crop planning, succession planting, seed starting, pest and weed management, harvest methods and timing. We will also go into a more detailed study of several successful flower crops on the farm. If you are curious about small-scale flower production or want to establish a flourishing flower garden in your backyard, we hope you will join us.

Participatory

Farm to Table Meals

Step into your own farm to table experience by gathering ingredients alongside a farmer and adding your own creative expression, skill and story sharing. We invite you to walk through the gardens, harvest fresh, organic ingredients, and gather around the community kitchen stations for cooking with your friends. Share, nourish, and savor the experience of connecting through food in this unique farm to table immersion.

Participants are welcome to pack their own food items to supplement meals and meet specific dietary needs.
