Dear Curiosity Journal,
On Wednesday, I recruited both dads to help me prepare the yule logs for the Winter Solstice Celebration. My dad collected oak and birch, two of the traditional trees used for yule logs. Then he cut the branches down into smaller chunks for either a triple or single candle holder. Meanwhile, Papa Rich saved the day in the tool department with a run to the hardware store and an install of the proper drill bit (½” boring bit) into the drill press, so that we could make perfectly sized indents to fit a tea light candle. This is my dad’s second year helping with the yule logs, and it feels like a fun little tradition we’ve started. He was a total rock star, completing over 80 yule logs/candle holders for the party on Saturday. We hope you will join us to make a yule log and other solstice crafts from 3 PM to 6 PM on Saturday, December 21st at 15270 Haucke Ln, Viola.
