Dear Curiosity Journal,
We know we’re getting to the end of the season when we’re harvesting in the dark. I get a later start, I drink an extra cup of coffee, but I’m still dragging my feet a little. My body seems to be telling me to hibernate with the other mammals, but the calendar tells me we have one more week of CSA after this, which will be week #28 if anyone is counting. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we’re packing on Monday and delivering on Tuesday, so that folks have their ingredients in plenty of time to prepare their feasts. We’re in the homestretch now, and Rufus seems to have mustered up a second wind, the type of energy that bubbles up when you can see the finish line. I’m in awe of his sunny disposition, even while cloaked in early darkness, cutting sleet, and damp gear. He’s like a hearth, throwing off enough heat and light to keep everything going, and I’m so thankful for his fire for rallying us through when my own energy wanes, and I get a little whiny.
