Dear Curiosity Journal,
On Sunday, we helped our friends, Gabriela Marvan and Ryan Rothweiler, load the alebrijes (Mani & Cleo) to be delivered to Centro Hispano of Dane County, a nonprofit serving the Latinx community in the Madison area. After their exhibition at the Wormfarm Institute Farm D/Tour, Mani and Cleo visited us on the farm temporarily while Gaby coordinated a permanent home for them. I’m so proud of Gaby and Ryan for this monumental artistic accomplishment and so happy that their artwork will be on display for the community to enjoy in the capital! These massive paper mache sculptures are a beautiful representation of the hard work, creativity, and dedication Gaby puts into her art. They have a few repairs and touch-ups to make before the official exhibit opening, but Mani & Cleo have proved to be resilient through several moves and a 10-day outdoor exhibit. Congratulations and bravo to the Mexican Folk Art Collective, Gabriela Marvan, Ryan Rothweiler, Renee Jimenez, and all of the friends who helped add paper, paint, move, and install these stunning sculptures.
