Dear Curiosity Journal,
I just love sharing the experience of raising livestock with Rufus. Taking on animals within a marriage can be risky business, as creatures can test your patience for working with them and each other. There’s nothing quite like chasing livestock to bring out the darkest of your colors, and the most colorful of your language. As a dairy kid, Rufus is well-versed in the trials of wrangling cows, and was hesitant to embrace the idea of bringing sheep into our already complex farm equation. However, with their smaller size and comparatively gentle nature, the ovines have won him over little by little. Rufus has a beautiful way of keeping things light and weaving humor into mishaps. I have learned so much from him about how to handle livestock, both physically and emotionally. Sharing this shepherding journey with my love is developing into one of my greatest joys on the farm.
