Dear Curiosity Journal,

Wild apples are on the CSA harvest list this week, so Rufus and I went out to “the back 40” to scale the trees and pluck abundance from the branches. Nothing says autumn has arrived like some freshly picked apples. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, wild apples may not win a beauty contest against commercial apples, but when it comes to flavor, the wild is where it’s at! The taste is so much more robust, complex, and unique to each tree. We couldn’t wait to make our favorite apple cobbler! Rufus whipped it up on Monday night, and I’m not ashamed to say that we ate it for breakfast on Tuesday. It was the perfect sweet treat to enjoy with a cup of coffee to fuel our harvest day. Cheers to apple season!
