Dear Curiosity Journal,

After having the vet out to examine June Bug (one of the Jacobs lambs) last Tuesday, we’re continuing to monitor her temperature and behavior. She has improved and declined over the last week, spiking a temperature and acting off. We started her on antibiotics on Monday, which has brought down her temperature and seems to be restoring her vitality. She’s eating, drinking, and following along with the flock, but just doesn’t seem quite like herself. The vet did not give us a conclusive diagnosis but thought that she may have gotten beat up by the bigger sheep. However, she wasn’t running a fever at that time, so he may have a different diagnosis now. If she doesn’t make significant improvements in the next few days, I’ll have the vet back out. There are so many lessons to learn with livestock, and the more I research and work with our vet, the more I realize I don’t know, and the more I worry.
