To provide a bit of enrichment, for both animals and humans, I decided to construct a “lamb-nasium” – a gymnasium for the lambs. This make-shift structure provides a bit of playful elevation, incorporating ramps, steps, planks, perches, pedestals, and a tree. As expected, the goats were the first to check it out. They’re always more curious than the sheep, who tend to be conservative with anything new. However, it wasn’t long before BamBam was up in the tree making calculations about venturing out on the catwalk. He lost his nerve and launched himself out of the tree to the ground instead. I’m excited to see how their play develops as they get familiar with the lamb-nasium. I may need to make some alterations, fortifications, and additions based on how the experiment plays out.
