Dear Curiosity Journal,
It’s our 5th harvest of the summer CSA and today we have a special visitor who is lending a hand. Our dear friend, founding board member, and Dia de Muertos co-host, Gaby Marvan, has a nephew visiting from Mexico. When she asked if he could camp on the farm, practice his English, and help out in the gardens for a couple of days, we were excited to welcome him. It’s nice for our intern, Annie, to have someone her own age to hang out with, and he was impressively helpful on our busy harvest day. Over the years, we’ve had many young people pass through the farm, giving us a hand, and gaining a unique experience on the land. It’s an exchange I’ve come to deeply appreciate, as we get to see our work from another perspective, and we always need help on the farm.
