Dear Curiosity Journal,
Tuesday was our 6th and final pack out of the 2024 spring CSA program – another season in the books. Now we have a 2 week “break” before we start the summer CSA, a time to catch up in the gardens, plant more summer and fall crops, and prepare for the rapid growth of solstice time. The outdoor fields require some TLC, there are a ton of transplants that need to get out, the weeds are going gangbusters, and we should start putting up trellis for the cucumbers soon. We’re feeling the burn, but steady farming. In a slump of exhaustion last week, Rufus joked that, “This is what we dream of all winter long”. Indeed. The juxtaposition between “Winter Joy” and “Summer Joy” hits harder as I near 40. Winter Joy dreams up brilliant plans, buying flower seeds in bulk and planning events under the covers with a cup of tea and Summer Joy has to make it all happen.
