Dear Curiosity Journal,

On Sunday, we hosted the first workshop in our 3-part fly fishing series with Peter Cozad. I feel so fortunate to have worked with Peter from the start of Driftless Curiosity. He is a wonderful instructor who always makes beginners feel welcome and comfortable when trying something new. He’s very good at keeping things light, making folks laugh, and focusing on having fun, which I really appreciate. Although it was chilly and windy, we worked with Mother Nature, casting with the wind at our backs, then trying it the other direction to notice the difference. We took breaks to warm up by the woodstove in the barn while learning how to tie flies, which was a welcome reprieve from the cold windy day. I’m always grateful to Coulee Region Trouts Unlimited for loaning us rods and reels, to Peter for sharing this sport with folks who are curious about fishing, to our volunteers, Mic and Jason, and to all of the participants who show up ready to learn in all kinds of weather.
