Dear Curiosity Journal,

The asparagus field is surrounded by grasslands fluttering with new feathered friends. As we harvest, Rufus and I attempt to distinguish single songs from the diverse chorus of voices. Rufus points out the Flicker call, imitating it and making me laugh. The Red-Winged Black Birds are at the forefront of the soundscape, scolding us for trespassing in their nesting grounds. In a sweet moment of synchronicity, I wished to see a Bobolink as three swooped into my eyeline, two males chasing a female. The sightings and sounds stirred my innerworld with a higher vibration of intuition, interconnection, and sensing into the loveliness of this present moment on the land. I’m grateful that our bird-friendly farming practices are creating a welcoming habitat for these grassland birds who need our support.
