Dear Curiosity Journal,
On a routine errand, I drove past Camp Creek and couldn’t resist the blip of a daydream about putting my feet in the water. I pulled over and took off my shoes and socks. I sat on the bank and the sound of the water had a noticeable effect on my nervous system. My muscles slackened and I took a deeper breath as I appreciated the nuance of the underwater blues and greens. There was a time when I would have found my little field trip to be a frivolity, something I didn’t have time for on a busy day. However, I’m shifting my sense of value around time and ambition. This moment taken by the water holds as much purpose and progress as time spent in labor to a list of tasks, and indeed, enriches and balances a busy life.
