The First Annual Driftless Region’s Dia de Los Muertos Celebration was a big success. Mexican Folk Art was one of the elements that made the Dia de Los Muertos celebration so beautiful. We painted calavaras (skulls), made corn husk flowers with Yesica Coria, created children’s headdresses, decorated with marigolds, and enjoyed the stunning papier-mâché Catrinas by Gabriela Marvan. Colors burst from everywhere I looked, and it was a dazzling sight to behold. Thank you so much to Gabriela Marvan and folk art collective for sharing your art with the community and making this event so wonderful. And thank you Peter Cozad for the lovely photos. Funding for the event was provided by the Wisconsin Humanities Council.
