This afternoon, my friend, and Driftless Curiosity’s newest board member, Julie Hanson, came out to the farm to learn about taking on some of the communication tasks of the organization. Julie was voted in unanimously last week as our board secretary and will be helping me manage some of the tasks of nonprofit work. Julie is an herbalist, Reiki Master, massage therapist, business owner, web designer, mother, artist, nature lover, and all around awesome and kind human being and we’re happy to officially welcome her to the team. After we tackled the office tasks, we headed out on a hike to pick blackberries and lounge in the hammock forest. I came out with a nice amount of berries, 4 or 5 bee stings, photos of some crazy looking mushrooms, and a couple good stories, including a close encounter with a deer in the hammock forest. You never know what Mother Nature is going to slap or kiss you with until you go see for yourself. We don’t let a few slaps deter us.
