On Saturday, Driftless Curiosity hosted a workshop on food preservation. We had 9 participants, 4 board members, and 2 volunteers who made the event an enjoyable success. Cathy Vosseteig and I conducted kitchen demonstrations on canning tomatoes, blanching and freezing corn, and making refrigerator pickles. Then Kyle Richards led a demonstration on dehydrating culinary herbs. Finally, we fed the piglets the scraps and Rufus led everyone on a tour around the farm. We received lots of great questions and comments about participants’ future plans for doing their own food preservation at home, so my mission is accomplished. I’m sending a huge thank you to everyone who came out to make this one of our best events yet!
