Today was the launch of Driftless Curiosity. Before my alarm was into its second measure of music, I’d thrown off the covers and stood up in one fluid motion. I braided my hair a little too tightly and narrowly resisted a third cup of coffee. The house buzzed with last minute preparations. The sun began to melt away icy trails and worries, and when our first participants arrived, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. We spent the most amazing day sharing the beauty of the land and sweet secrets of the maple trees with new faces. I heard more laughter and experienced more pure joy today than I have in a long time. At the end of the day, around the fire with friends, I gave a reverent nod of gratitude to the brilliant full moon. We did it.
