Wellness Retreat
In this land-based wellness retreat, we’ll take time out of our busy summer to ground together in some simple self-care principles.

Wellness Offerings
Each day will feature offerings on physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and dietary wellness topics.

Ayurveda Wellness
The ancient principles of Ayurveda help us to better understand ourselves on an elemental level, which affords us the awareness to make ideal choices and live with optimal wellness in accordance with the cycles of Nature. Through Ayurvedic Pulse Assessment, you will gain a deeper understanding of your physiological baseline (mind-body makeup or Prakriti), as well as what imbalances (Vikriti) you are currently experiencing. You will create a connection with yourself and with Nature by honoring your unique Prakriti, as well as increasing awareness as to where there is a need for more balance. With this information you will be empowered to make educated decisions as to what food, lifestyle, practices, and activities you can employ to most easily promote supreme balance in your life, your body, your mind, and your spirit.

Making Herbal Oils
Herbalist Julie Hanson will lead an herb walk to properly identify and harvest wild plants that can be infused into a variety of oils. During the walk, she will introduce different ways to use these herbal oils for your daily self care routines. You will learn how you can easily create these oils for yourself. Materials will also be available in our craft lab for the remainder of the weekend so that you can wildcraft your own herbal infused oils during your free time. Fresh sage will also be available to wrap your own smudge stick.

Sacred Sound Healing with Crystal Singing Bowls
Crystal Singing Bowls work by sending sound waves of frequencies that absorb throughout your body bringing harmony through oscillation and resonance. This helps restore your body’s balance which in turn helps you heal. These singing bowls are often utilized for sound therapy, which are also known as quartz singing bowls or glass singing bowls. The use of these bowls can have a significant beneficial effect on the healing of your mind and body, especially when combined with positive affirmations, mantras, chants and meditation. The Crystal Singing Bowls can be experienced while played by Julie and Amy in conjunction with meditation times throughout the retreat.

Intro to Foam Rolling and Self Massage
Julie Hanson is a practicing Herbalist and Reiki Master. She has also been a Sports Massage Therapist for 20 years and will lead the group with a guided self care session. This will include an introduction to using a foam roller, along with other tools you might have at home for self massage and deeper stretching. Different sizes and types of foam rollers will be available to use and then purchase after the class if you would like to take one home. If you already own a foam roller, you are encouraged to bring it along to use with this class. Amy Olson will also teach the technique of self-abhyanga, or herbalized oil application to easily incorporate into your daily routine. Abhyanga allows the herbalized oil to penetrate the dhatus (layers) of skin which improves circulation, lubricates the skin and joints, and promotes optimal digestion.

Self Compassion & Somatic Meditation
Somatic Meditation helps us befriend the body and calm the nervous system. Taught by Sarah Cotten, this class follows the teachings of Insight Meditation and the Thai Forest Tradition. This Buddhist framework is integrated with Sarah’s knowledge of trauma resolution as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Our intention in the practice is to recognize and dwell in the felt sense of self-compassion.

The Magic and Art of Teacraft
In this workshop, we will be meeting with three very highly vibrational flowers; rose, jasmine and blue lotus. And while each of these flowers are quite beautiful and potent on their own, when brought together they create a very powerful and very magical blend, called ‘The Heart of The Goddess Tea’.
We’ll craft and sip this special tea while sitting within a sacred circle, and go deep into meditation with rhythmic drumming to meet with the flower spirits to receive special insights and wisdom from the plants themselves.

Qigong
The Five Element Forms
Qigong is an ancient energy healing art for mind/body exercise. It consists of many different forms from the Chinese medicine philosophy of enhancing Qi (Chi), the energy flow of the body, to encourage better health.
Julie Hanson will lead the group in a session of the Five Element Forms of Qigong. The five elements are energetic archetypes flowing through our bodies and represent the fundamental basis of everything that interacts in our universe. The gentle exercise of Qigong will help you connect and purify the parts of your mind and body that each element represents.
