Fly Fishing #3

Advanced Class

In 2024, we are expanding our fly fishing program into a 3-part series, based on abundant curiosity. The Fly Fishing #3 Advanced Class is an opportunity for experienced anglers to learn local tips, fine tune their technique, and get on the water with Driftless Angler guide, Peter Cozad, who will cover a variety of topics including approach, insect activity, seasonal progressions, and more. So, if you want to refine your fly fishing game, join us on the water for some fun. 

 

Please purchase your fishing license with the DNR prior to the workshop.

Cartonería

Paper Mache

 Location: Keewaydin Farms, 15270 Haucke Ln, Viola, WI 54664

Details:

In this 2-day workshop, Mexican folk artist, Gabriela Marvan, will teach participants an introduction to cartonería (a technique similar to paper mache). Students will learn to create forms, model newspaper, and work with layers of paper and engrudo (the glue used with this technique made with flour and water). We will work together in this workshop to create a large piece for the 4th Annual Driftless Region’s Día de Muertos Celebration, which will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2024.

 

Ages 15 and up are welcome.

Hammock Forest

Location: Keewaydin Farms, 15270 Haucke Ln, Viola, WI 54664

 

Dates: April through October

 

Details:

 

Spend the day in the peaceful atmosphere of the Hammock Forest. The beauty of the Hammock Forest is that you can choose your own adventure. Pack a family picnic, come solo with a book, or plan a double date.

 

Visitors are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks.

We ask participants to help keep the forest clean by taking their trash with them.

 

No dogs please.

Explanation of Self-Selected Sliding Scale Pricing: There are 3 sliding scale ticket options on the registration form. If you would like to register as a Driftless Curiosity volunteer, you can choose the $30 ticket and your email will be entered into our volunteer system which will send you periodic volunteer opportunities to help with other Driftless Curiosity events or land-based projects. We ask volunteers to accept one volunteer opportunity for each program they attend at the volunteer rate within the same calendar year. Otherwise, you can choose the $60 suggested ticket price or the $90 sponsor ticket price, which donates $30 to a scholarship fund for limited income participants to attend programs for free or reduced cost.
