Dear Curiosity Journal,
Last weekend, the Driftless Curiosity board members went on our first long distance adventure for the board retreat. Rufus, Taylor, Diana, and I traveled to the Haucke family lake house in Algoma for three days of organizational planning, connecting, and exploring. When we arrived on Friday evening, we walked on the beach of Lake Michigan under the full moon, played cards, and watched a movie (falling asleep). On Saturday, we got into some really wonderful discussions about the direction of Driftless Curiosity for 2025. After we completed all of the business of the annual meeting, we went “vintage bowling” where we had to keep our own score, and Diana was the reigning champion. The celebration dances on the lanes were pure gold. On Sunday, we went for a little drive up the coast to Whitefish Dune State Park to hike along the shore of Lake Michigan, exploring the breathtaking cliffs and beaches, and taking a ton of funny photos (which I’ll share soon). We all brought ingredients and took turns making 6 stellar meals for each other. We brought so much food and ate so well all weekend long. It was such a treat! The time flew by, but it was a fun and productive weekend with my Driftless Curiosity Besties, and I’m pretty sure we started some Algoma traditions for future retreats. I’m so thankful for Rufus, Taylor, and Diana for supporting the Driftless Curiosity dream. We can’t wait to share what we’re dreaming up for 2025, so stay tuned!
