Dear Curiosity Journal,
This morning, as Rufus got ready to substitute teach, he popped out to the garden for a quick harvest. I asked him if he was making a lunch for himself, but he replied that he was putting a veggie tray together for the teacher’s lounge. While subbing at local schools (once the farming slows down), we both noticed that there is a lot of sugar being shared, especially on Fridays, and while we love sweets, we also don’t feel the best after indulging, complaining to each other that we feel slightly sick, and shouldn’t have eaten that plate of “goodies”. I can’t judge because I’m often weak for sugar, and there is nothing like managing a classroom on a Friday to make you want the consolation of a piece of cake. However, it’s nice to have a healthy option, and Rufus is so sweet to bring a plate of garden “goodies” to his fellow teachers, sharing a snack with real energy that folks can feel good about. Happy Friday to all of the hard-working teachers and thank you for all that you do.
