Dear Curiosity Journal,
Rufus, Annie, and I harvested and packed the third week of the summer CSA on Tuesday. It’s essential to get to the greenhouse harvest early in the morning and avoid them entirely midday (if we can). The summer heat makes us calculate our time and water intake a little more closely, as we grow fonder of the early and late hours, and evermore grateful for rain. This week we harvested garlic, kale, kohlrabi, green scallions, peas, dill, zucchini, head lettuce, asparagus, and a bonus woodland delicacy, oyster mushrooms. As we close up the shares, I enjoy the layers of green hues, textures, and aromas, a nourishing offering from the land in her summer glory.
