Dear Curiosity Journal,
The comfrey is in bloom, calling me to come closer, get curious, and collect leaves. I admire her uniquely shaped floral arrangements while I harvest a few handfuls of her leaves to dry. Some of the health benefits of comfrey include its ability to reduce pain, eliminate inflammation, boost the immune system, promote growth, and strengthen bones. It also helps heal skin, reduce the risk of cancer, and improve respiratory health. Comfrey can be infused into an oil or salve and applied topically. When I had knee surgery last fall, I applied comfrey salve daily and my physical therapist couldn’t believe how quickly I recovered. Now I’ve befriended Comfrey as a lifelong ally and am grateful she’s flourishing in my backyard.
